A knuckle duster by Alexander McQueen inspired this body of work. The white python clutch was adorned with brass knuckles and crystal-studded cherubs. Its quiet violence and playfulness as well as its luxurious materials moved me.
I connected the bag to a piece I created for a show called Confess at the Southern Exposure Gallery in San Francisco. It was comprised of a 6’ x 6’ white tile floor with a drain in the center surrounded by three eyebolts.
Noble Drainage is a creative exploration with these two sources serving as its points of departure.
